The upcoming 95th Oscars will mark nearly a century of cinematic excellence, with a ceremony that Academy CEO Bill Kramer recently told A.frame will honor both the year’s best films and this historic anniversary. “The energy around the show should feel like a massive celebration of cinema and the awards — our legacy, our artists, our movies, our future,” he said.
“The 95th gives us a great opportunity to knit together the incredible legacy of the Oscars, the diverse and powerful work we do across the Academy, and our vision for the future,” explained Kramer.
As we look forward to the 95th Oscars, A.frame is here to keep you in the know about the who, what, when and where of the show.
When and where is the 95th Oscars ceremony?
Sunday, March 12, 2023, live from the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The ceremony will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide.
Who’s hosting the ceremony?
Jimmy Kimmel, who previously hosted the Oscars in 2017 and 2018, will host for a third time. “His love of movies, live TV expertise, and ability to connect with our global audiences will create an unforgettable experience for our millions of viewers worldwide,” said Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang.
Which films are nominated?
Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 24. The nominations presentation will be livestreaming on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, or via the Academy’s Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, or YouTube starting at 5:30 a.m. PST / 8:30 a.m. EST.
Who’s producing the show?
Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment will serve as the executive producers and showrunners of this year’s show. Weiss will also, for the eighth consecutive year, be directing.
Weiss won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special in both 2017 and 2018 (the same years that Kimmel hosted), with additional nominations in 2019 for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special and Outstanding Variety Special (Live).
