Virgil Abloh, the acclaimed menswear fashioner for Louis Vuitton and founder and CEO of Off-White, died on Sunday of cancer, as per a post from his confirmed Instagram account. He was 41.
“We are crushed to report the death of our dearest Virgil Abloh, a furiously committed dad, spouse, child, sibling, and companion. He is made due by his caring spouse Shannon Abloh, his youngsters Lowe Abloh and Gray Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his folks Nee and Eunice Abloh, and various dear companions and associates,” the post read.
For over two years, Virgil Abloh valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture.”
